Project Foster Love Unity Bags
On any given day, there are nearly 15,000 children in the foster care system in Michigan alone. Of the thousands of youth who enter the system each year, most arrive carrying little more than the clothes on their backs. Most of the time, collecting personal belongings is just not an option; even when the opportunity is there to grab a few things, many are then given a trash bag with which to carry their personal items. It is a time of great upheaval and instability, with their first foster home placement unlikely to be their last.
Many youth in foster care will be moved from home to home multiple times, carrying their life’s treasures in a trash bag. Project Foster Love is about providing love through a bag; we believe that every child deserves to feel a sense of dignity. Every child is deserving of the chance to pack their belongings in a special bag that they can call their own. It is our mission as a charity to provide a proper bag, filled with comfort and essential items, to these brave children in foster care who are on their journey to find their forever home.
2nd Annual Charity Ski Event
Urban Ski Charity Event and Urban Unity CDC are partnering to expose minorities of all ages to new sports and activities that they haven’t traditionally had access to. We are creating a safe space for them to explore, grow further and connect with like-minded people, changing the narrative for people of color through increased opportunities and events like this.
