Here's just a few ways Urban Unity CDC contributes to our surrounding communities.
Get out to vote!
over 10,000 People reached! 5 cities! 17 events! The goal: bring voting awareness, education, empowerment, and register citizens to vote in the metro Detroit area.
Urban Unity committed efforts during the Presidential Election to drive voters to the polls. With the support of our community leaders and organizations, local officials, and volunteers, we were able to mobilize a grassroots strategy that engaged communities with low voting participation rates and reached over 10,000 people. Urban Unity provided a platform in the City’s of Detroit, Inkster, Pontiac, Southfield, and Redford MI that brought voting awareness, education, empowerment, and offered a positive and safe space for people to learn the importance of voting and also register to vote. During the months of August, September and October, we had events, canvassed, and phone banked to ensure the metro Detroit area understood their voice and vote counts.
We are especially appreciative and thankful for our sponsors: CNS Healthcare, The City of Southfield, Tyron Crosby( Detroit Lions), Urban Youth and Family Development, #HOLLA, LLC, The Flower Bowl, Deals with B.O.B., Our Own Wall Street, and Phlebotomy Express Training Centers. Our partners: Craftwork, World Wide Health and Safety and Testing, Wayne State University, Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network, 1% Better, Tindal Recreation Center, and Healthy Kids Inc. And all that volunteers and participants who helped make this “Get Out to Vote” Initiative a success.
